USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71) is a modern American nuclear powered aircraft carrier. The keel for this unit was laid in 1981, the launch took place in March 1984, and the commissioning to the US Navy took place in 1986. They were also the first nuclear-powered carrier class in the history of the US Navy. From the outset, they were planned as the backbone of the US Navy strike force, and were expected to work closely with other shielding ships, such as destroyers, frigates, and submarines. They are almost a symbol of the dominance of the US Navy in the seas and world assessments. One of the carriers of this class is the USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71), which was built at Newport News Shipbuilding in Newport News, Virginia. It is worth adding that compared to the previous units of its class, it has a better protection of the vital parts of the ship and was built - as the first of the Nimitz class - in a modular technique. Before it was accepted for service, the unit underwent very difficult and demanding sea tests, which included, among others, detonation of an explosive charge near the ship. USS T. Roosevelt took an active and significant part in the First Gulf War in 1990-1991. After the conflict ended, the ship remained in the area, and its on-board planes supervised the Iraqi side's compliance with the prohibition of flying over designated zones. In the period 1992-1995, the unit periodically served in the Mediterranean Sea, and its planes participated in the Deny Flight and Deliberate Force operations. In 2003, the carrier took part in the Gulf War II operation. The individual is currently in active service.
