Chevrolet introduced the 1967 Camaro to challenge Ford’s incredibly popular Mustang. The original Z/28 debuted that same year as the street version of the race-prepared Camaros that competed in the SCCA’s Trans-Am race series. Camaro Z/28s went on to win the Trans-Am manufacturer’s championship in 1968 and ’69, and this on-track success helped cement the Z/28’s performance reputation.
