About Us

Eugene Toy & Hobby's 83+ years of history can be traced back through 5 generations of the Agerter family.

Eugene Toy & Hobby's 84 year history can be traced back through 5 generations of the Agerter family. Great-Grandfather Perry Agerter retired to Eugene in the late 1920s, and took over ownership of a simple gift shop and magazine stand. Not too long afterward, he fully retired and offered the business to his son Byron.

In 1933 Byron, his wife Eva, and their young son Paul moved out to Eugene.
They eventually added the first toys and model trains and airplanes that would later dominate their inventory.

Throughout the next 33 years the store continued to expand necessitating 4 moves.
The most recent of which was in 1969 to our current location at 32 East 11th Ave.
Paul and his sons Mark and Alan became partners in 1981 when Byron and Eva officially retired.

Paul retired in 1991 as Mark and Alan took over.

Pocket novels and used magazines were eliminated by 1986 when the building was remodeled and expanded to it's current size.

Alan's two children, Andrew and Emily both work at the store and ensure we remain your toy and hobby store throughout the next generation.

1.We're Local

Locally owned by one family for over 83 years.  We love what we do and we love sharing our passion as well as our knowledge.

We are family, so we understand families and their needs.  Be it kids or a kid at heart, we love to help people have fun and get the most out of life.

We know you can buy toys and hobby gear from many sources but what you won't get from those places is our history.  We know how to use the cool new toys and hobbies but because of our experience we also understand when something breaks how important it is to get it back up and running again. And, more importantly, we usually know how to fix it and can help you with the repairs of your stuff too. We have broken plenty of toys and hobby gear in all our years and part of the fun is getting them going again.
